What kind of images convert best to STL?
A single object, centered, on a plain background. Product photos, toy photos, logos and clean illustrations work well. Busy scenes with several overlapping objects are harder to reconstruct.
Can I convert a PNG to STL with a transparent background?
Yes. The alpha channel is read as the outline of the object, so transparent PNGs of logos and icons produce sharp, accurate edges.
Will the STL be watertight and printable?
The converter produces closed meshes and includes a repair step that fixes holes and inverted faces. Files are tested against common slicers before export.
Does image to STL work for lithophanes?
It is built for full 3D objects rather than relief lithophanes. If you need a flat relief from a photo, a dedicated lithophane tool will serve you better.
